Welcome Actors
Ana Montoya is a Miami native who has been involved in performing and teaching performing arts for children and teens for over 30 years. Ana is the proud Theatre teacher and Lead Magnet teacher at South Miami K-8 Center for the Expressive Arts.
The audition-based program trains advanced 3rd, 4th, and
5th grade magnet students in all areas of performing arts; including singing, acting, dancing, scene work, and improvisation, while keeping a high GPA in their academic classes. Prior to her work at South Miami K-8, Ana Montoya ran her own performing arts conservatory, TAPS (Theatre Arts Performing School), where the students trained intensively and performed in different venues around the city.
Ana studied musical theatre at Florida State University and danced professionally with Miami Hispanic Ballet, under
the direction of Pedro Pablo Pena. Her educational background consists of a Bachelor’s Degree in Education, a Master’s Degree in Special Education, and a Specialist Education Degree, with a focus on Autism.
In the fourteen years at SMK-8 Center she has produced shows such as, Beauty and the Beast, Jungle Book, Aladdin, Grease, Little Mermaid, Seussical the Musical and Shrek.
She's proud to announce that out of all of the magnet programs in the county, the South Miami K8 Drama magnet program has the highest number of boys in the program.
